No Pens day 2018
Ladybirds had so much fun on NO PENS DAY.
We have been reading The Little Red Hen in literacy this week, so we decided to make our own bread rolls.
The children listened so carefully to all the instructions and took it in turns to mix the flour, yeast, water, sugar and salt. In small groups, we also practised kneading the dough. We were very good at this and enjoyed getting messy! Our helping hands took our rolls to the kitchen to be baked.
We also enjoyed going on a fruit hunt in our outside classroom. We searched high and low for pictures of many different fruits. As we found each fruit we used a small hole punch on individual sheets to mark the fruit we had found. Some of us persevered for a long time, even when we couldn't find the picture and the hole punch was a little stiff.
In the afternoon, we couldn't wait to share what we had been doing with special visitors. Our grown-ups were very impressed with our bread rolls and enjoyed tasting them. Ladybirds described their bread rolls as, delicious, soft and crumbly.
Harvest practise has also been in full swing. We are ready and excited to share our songs and the story of The Little Red Hen with you next week.
