Personal, Social, Health Education (PSHE)
As a school we encourage the children to think about how their actions affect others. As part of our PSHE lessons in Year 1 and 2 the children will be discussing bullying.
Please do not be alarmed therefore if your child starts using the words 'bully' or 'bullying'.
They will learn that the definition of bullying is ....
- An action which hurts your body or feelings
- Is done on purpose to hurt you
- Happens again and again
We will look at certain scenarios and discuss whether it is bullying or not, for example a one off incident, or being hurt accidently is not bullying. During these lessons we will also teach the children that if they feel bullied they must speak to an adult. If your child says they have been bullied please encourage them to think about whether what they have experienced fits the definition above and then speak to your child's class teacher.
Later on in the term in Year 2 we shall also be talking about loss (relating to possessions; transitions (moving house/school); death of pets and people) and the feelings that can accompany it.
If you have any queries or concerns, you can arrange to see Mrs Preston our home school liaison contact or Mrs Darvill.
