Science

At John Ray Infants it is very important for children and staff to have FUN when taking part in science activities.

The emphasis in ‘Science’ is for the children take part in lots of ‘hands on’, practical activities and investigations. To know that there is no ‘wrong’ answer as long as you can explain and justify what you have done.  It allows the children to develop and extend their own train of thought, to ask their own questions and to try to work out an answer.

Science can be accessed by all as it requires ‘thinking’ and the ability to discuss what they have done and why, without having to always record their findings.  Children love to explore with ‘hands on’ and that is what we encourage all our children to do.

The school follows the National Curriculum guidelines, but we are able to include work related to our topics and many stand-alone activities.  The staff are now beginning to use ‘Explorify’
