Spring 1 Maths
Kingfishers have enjoyed developing their Maths skills this half term. We started 2020 with a focus on data and how we represent it in charts and graphs. The children were able to make pictograms and bar graphs to represent different sorts of data. They could answer different questions about the graphs and make comparisons
Next, we completed a unit of work about shape. We found out about 2D and 3D shapes and used mathematical vocabulary such as: vertices, edges, faces and symmetry. We can now recognise and name a wide variety of 2D shapes and 3D shapes. We can find a line of symmetry and continue a pattern. We also used Venn diagrams to sort shapes according to their properties.
Spring 1 Dance
Once again, Kingfishers have had lots of fun learning a new dance with their friends in Robins. After the successful Lindy Hop last term, we have spent this half term learning the Waka Waka Dance! It has a fast piece of music with lots of different moves to fit in, but the Kingfishers managed to master it and danced with enthusiasm.
Spring 1 Music
It has been interesting to find out about the music of Anna Meredith. We were all fascinated to learn how she makes music using just body sounds. We listened to her amazing musical pieces and even learnt some of her moves. It inspired us to devise our own moves and sounds.
